The Badische Kellerey in Kastellaun occupies an old timbered barn building dating from about 1750. There is nothing quite like it in the Hunsrück area. The restaurant has been popular with the people of the Hunsrück and others for more than 50 years. People come to enjoy the delicious German cuisine, the fine wine from Rheinland-Pfalz and the special local malt beers. The Rittermahl (Knights’ Feast) - a medieval style banquet which is held several times a year - is a real highlight. The Waisenschreiberei (a former orphans’ office) offers a convivial setting for parties catering for up to 30 people. It also organises themed monthly menus, for example, with roast goose served with red cabbage and dumplings, foie gras, venison stew and duck breast. The restaurant also organises bespoke parties with 4-course meals and a cheese platter costing 24.50 EUR per person.
