Opening Times:
09.00-01.00 every day | Hotel, Modern British Restaurant The Black Lion Hotel was a medieval coaching inn and is now a seven bedroom boutique hotel. The hotel has many original features from medieval timber beams and windows to Georgian fireplaces, making for an interesting and quirky building. Our beds are pretty comfortable too!
We serve all day tapas which you can nibble whilst drinking a pint of local real ale or a glass of wine. A la carte dining is available in our restaurant at lunch from 12.00 until 15.00 and for dinner from 18.00 onwards. We are interested in food miles and supporting the local economy and try to source everything from within a 30 miles radius, so we know where our beef, chicken, pheasants, eggs, broccoli and carrots come from and that they had happy lives (well maybe not so much the broccoli and carrots...) and we only buy fish from UK waters and sustainable stocks.
Our bar is well stocked with several real ales from small local breweries as well as the usual lagers and spirits. We have a top shelf of interesting whiskey and scotch and a good wine cellar including some Fair Trade brands.
If you don’t fancy any alcohol we do a great range of teas and coffee which can be sampled with rather tasty cakes...
We are pet friendly and welcome them for overnight stays, as well as in the bar.
