El Ingenio de Cervantes is located just off Gran Vía, the Madrid street famous for its theatres and musicals. It offers traditional Spanish cuisine at prices that represent unusually good value for this part of town. This small restaurant pays tribute to the famous Spanish writer after whom the restaurant is named and inside there are various related ornaments and books of varying provenance. The long à la carte menu offers every day dishes. Alternatively there is a fixed price menu that offers a starter of tapas or stews, a fish or meat main course as well as dessert. Cabrales cheesecake with cider, hake-stuffed Piquillo peppers and entrecote steak served on a table-grill, allowing diners to cook it to their liking, are all house specialities.
