Restaurang RosengÃ¥rden is a classic restaurant beautifully sited by the ruins of St Catherine’s church at the Main Square in Visby. RosengÃ¥rden was built in the mid 1940s and has formed a natural part of Visby’s nightlife ever since. Originally the restaurant had an open veranda and was somewhat smaller than it is now, but though many changes have been made over the years, the special feeling provided by the shelter of St Catherine’s church ruins has remained. At the end of the 1990s the restaurant took on its current incarnation when the bar and outdoor area were rebuilt and renovated. In the summer of 2004 two new restaurateurs took over, Stefan Königslehner and Henrik Westerlund, who are continuing the tradition of RosengÃ¥rden whilst setting their own personal stamp on this genuine Gotlandic summer restaurant.
