Information on Penzance, Cornwall
Penzance stands on the north-eastern shore of Mount's Bay in the far west of Cornwall. Penzance Harbour shelters fishing boats and yachts with the occasional long-mast nudging the granite quays. Penzance is the stopping point for flights or ferries to the Isles of Scilly.
With a good variety of good shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants Penzance has a pedestrianised area and the delightful old town. Of particular note is Chapel Street, an ancient thoroughfare that meanders its way to the seafront between fine historic buildings and boutique shops.
Places to visit include the nearby St Michael's Mount, and the Trengwainton gardens (National Trust). June sees the vibrant Golowan Festival, which celebrates the Celtic traditions of West Cornwall.
