| Gastropub, Real Ale Pub This charming country pub deep in rural Suffolk reopened its doors in Nov 2006. It is now a free house serving at least three real ales and has a large wine list to accompany its food. All ingredients are sourced locally and, whenever possible, directly from local farmers.
As befits a pub in the countryside it is dog friendly and where better for Fido to dry off than in front of the roaring fire in the colder months. For summer there is a south facing terrace outside which is a sun trap from dawn till dusk.
It has a traditional farmhouse feel to its menu with the best of seasonal produce used and all dishes can be reduced in size for a child friendly portion.
Favourite items include: ham hock terrine; fresh vegetable soup; Suffolk ham egg and chips; lambs liver and bacon; red poll steak, hand cut chips, tomato and mushrooms and beer battered fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce, while all their desserts are produced in their own kitchen.
