The Gasthaus Adler in the Hanau district of Mittelbuchen is one of the area’s traditional restaurants. The interior of the restaurant is all the more surprising in that paintings by Joerg Eyfferth are displayed here. Specialities from Hesse are on the menu. These dishes are cooked with a view to eliciting a satisfied smile from lovers of fine food. In this respect the head chef, Claus Viering, is not lacking in imagination. He uses hand-picked ciders in his recipes. You can of course drink these ciders with the sumptuous meals. The restaurant puts on a regular programme of events. Judging from experience, you would be well advised to make a booking for any of these. Incidentally, two cookery books written by Claus Viering reveal the secrets of this fine cuisine.
