Restaurant DH1 is one of Durham’s finest and boldest restaurants, that has earned plaudits locally and nationally. Specialising in innovative and imaginative cuisine using the best British produce wherever possible with a modern European approach, offering a very popular 7-course tasting menu, daily a la carte and market menu to its customers. Head Chef Stephen Hardy takes great care in keeping the menus seasonal and tries to source as many ingredients as possible locally, within a 30 mile radius. Opening its doors in 2007, recognition and awards have flooded in, with the most prestigious coming from the industry gurus at Restaurant Magazine who awarded Restaurant DH1 the Best Dessert in Britain prize. More recently the restaurant has been Michelin recommended in 2012 guide and achieved the TasteDurham 2012 award for highest quality assured and local produce champion for the 4th year running. Being situated far enough from the city’s main drinking areas has also added to Restaurant DH1’s mystique and exclusivity as peace is guaranteed. The restaurant provides the widest selection of wines in Durham City, as well as an array of spirits in its cosy bar area. Restaurant DH1 is attached to the four-star Guest House Farnley Tower, so it carries the attractive Restaurant with Rooms cachet, very popular with couples. Being linked to the hotel means that there are extensive facilities for groups too. The venue has proved popular with businesses, staff training, team building, weddings and christenings.
