| Scandinavian Restaurant Renowned Argentinean chef Germán Martitegui heads up the kitchen at Ølsen offering northern European style. This is home cooking using basic ingredients based on quality raw materials and careful presentation combining classic elements of local cuisine with northern European influences and a personal touch. Martitegui draws on the essence of home made food with a modern and innovative style. Portions are generous and are beautifully presented. Smoked fish, venison, herrings and gravadlax all feature heavily. Starters include venison with raspberries and almonds, or fried oysters with cucumber sauce, while main courses feature tea-smoked salmon and Ølsen smoked cured pork shoulder with a red fruit and cherry sauce. For dessert, diners can choose from a list that includes chocolate cappuccino with milk foam and caramelised pistachios, or mandarin soufflé. Under the Sharing section of the menu there is a selection of dishes that allows diners to discover the combination of vodka with various hot and cold Nordic tapas. There are also various types of bagel breads made on the premises, which are served in a specially designed bread holder. The average price is 40 Euros. The wine list is short and to the point with a choice of 35 bottles including Spanish and international wines which pair well with the food. There is also a water list with six different waters including Voss from Sweden and Tau from the UK. The Ølsen experience is completed with an equally innovative lounge and vodka bar, one of the most comprehensively stocked in Europe with a range of 80 vodkas from various countries. Ølsen was designed by Robert Schlaefle and architects Guillermo Vidal and Juan López Roca, inspired by modern Scandinavian design with clean and simple lines and fine materials. Both the furniture and the crockery were exclusively designed for the restaurant.
